Pipe Fuser

Description:

Pipe Fusers have the responsibility of constructing and installing HDPE or plastic gas piping systems of all sizes, by means of fusion. Pipe Fusers also modify, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, clean, and maintain new and existing underground gas distribution piping systems and related equipment, following specifications and using hand and power tools. The Pipe Fuser is essential in communicating with other team members regarding the excavating activities associated with installing the pipe, to ensure work is performed safely and efficiently.

The following are the Essential Duties:

• Construct, install, and maintain piping systems, appurtenances, and equipment for natural gas utilities
• Join piping by means of fusion, electrofusion, or mechanical coupled joints
• Verify specifications by performing quality assurance tests
• Dig around underground utility pipelines with hand tools
• Load and unload equipment and materials
• Keep worksite clean and organized, free from unnecessary hazards
• Other duties as requested by Leadership

Education: High school diploma (preferred)

Experience: Knowledge of gas installation techniques and standards (preferred)

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent stamina.
