This position is responsible for providing peer support services to appropriate clients through use of relevant personal stories and lived experience. Peer Support Services may include advocating, serving as a role model, providing hope, encouraging, empowering, supporting emotionally, providing information, and enhancing relationships and engagement with other providers among others. Services should promote socialization, recovery, self-advocacy, preservation and enhancement of community living skills for the recipient.

A primary goal for the PSS position is to utilize lived experience and skills to assist assigned clients in building and keeping hope in their recovery through advocating, encouraging, empowering, and supporting them in daily activities regarding their recovery.

  1. Ensures that each client receives services appropriate to the client’s individual, person centered care plan.
  2. Enters complete and concise service notes in a timely manner consistent with all regulations and standards, documenting all interactions with client, family, involved agencies, supports, etc.
  3. Collaborates with the other service providers to develop an individualized, person-centered care plan with the involvement of the client and other identified supports.
  4. Peer Support Specialists will drive REH company vehicles for all transportation of clients. If client is under the age of 18, there must be a signed release by the guardian allowing transportation by REH staff members.
  5. A Peer Support Specialist will engage in at least bi-weekly supervision for at least 30 minutes in each session with their assigned supervisor. They will consult cases as needed more regularly.
  6. Participate in networking activities (e.g. network with community stakeholders and other pertinent activities) and in community workgroups as appropriate.
  7. Participate in on-call schedule when appropriate.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.

The PSS will have lived experience with the client population for which they are providing services for. There will have been a period of at least 1-year sustained sobriety immediately prior to providing direct service to clients.

- For Adult Peer Support, a PSS will have a current or past diagnosis of mental health and/or substance use and have been/are receiving treatment.

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Strong communication, problem solving, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Has a flexible schedule and able to manage time effectively.
  • Valid Driver’s License and insurability.
  • Maintain their own health and wellness through continued recovery and/or mental health services as needed.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen.
  • Successful completion of a background screening.
  • Successful completion of a TB skin test or proof of a negative chest x-ray or other documentation.

Hourly Pay starts at $14.00/hour.
