Job Description

The role involves managing the organization's accounting activities, financial planning, cost controls, , internal controls, financial audits, and process improvement initiatives. Additionally, it includes leading accounting functions and managing the activities of supervisors and individual contributors, such as hiring, firing, performance appraisals, and pay reviews. The candidate should have broad knowledge of the field with leadership skills and ensure finance policies and procedures comply with regulatory bodies. 

As the Controller you will:  

  • Direct/Manage/Supervise the organization's fiscal activities and reporting.  
  • Lead financial planning including short-term forecasting, yearly planning, and long-range modeling.  
  • Conduct financial analysis, trend analysis, and variance analysis.  
  • Develop and execute cost controls.  
  • Ensure cash flow needs are met.  
  • Lead accounting functions such as bank reconciliations, AR/AP, general ledger maintenance, budget, and audit.  
  • Developing and implementing financial policies including internal controls 
  • Facilitate external audits 
  • Lead and complete the SOC 1 annual audit 
  • Ensuring compliance with financial and accounting regulations 
  • Preparing and managing budgets 
  • Managing financial reports and documents, such as balance sheets and income statements 
  • Working with CFO and outside CPA to complete tax returns 
  • Performing financial risk assessments and doing internal audits 
  • Assisting with corporate financial decisions  
  • Broad knowledge of the field with demonstrated leadership skills. 
  • Implement process improvement initiatives to drive profitability.  

Requirements

  • Merchant and Payment Processing (Credit, Debit, ACH) 
  • Banking platforms; ACH and wire activity Multiple entity accounting 
  • Internal External Audit Examinations as lead or manager 
  • QuickBooks Desktop and Online Microsoft Excel; Pivot Tables and Reporting  

Preferred but not required 

  • SOC 1 and SOC 2 
  • Investment Fund Accounting  
  • Recurring payment Management 
  • Fiduciary/Trust accounting 
  • MS SQL / Server experience and reporting to SSRS 

Experience and Education 

  • Bachelor’s Management, Finance, Account or other relevant field of Study 
  • Certified Public Accountant (Preferred) 
  • 5+ years accounting 
  • 3+ years in leadership or managerial role
