Position: General Manager
Location: Rivertown IGA Grocery Store
Overview:
The General Manager is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our IGA grocery store. They play a crucial role in ensuring efficient and effective store management, exceptional customer service, and financial success.
Responsibilities:
1. Operational Management:
o Lead and manage all aspects of store operations, including inventory management, merchandising, pricing, and product placement.
o Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and food handling guidelines.
o Collaborate with department managers to maintain high standards in each department (produce, deli, bakery, meat, etc.).
2. Financial Management:
o Develop and execute strategies to improve profitability, sales, and margins.
o Monitor and control expenses, labor costs, and shrinkage.
o Analyze financial reports and make data-driven decisions to enhance store performance.
3. Customer Service:
o Prioritize exceptional customer service by training and motivating staff.
o Address customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints promptly and professionally.
o Foster a positive shopping experience for customers.
4. Staff Supervision and Development:
o Recruit, train, and supervise store staff, including department managers, cashiers, and stockers.
o Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
o Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment.
5. Vendor and Supplier Relations:
o Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and negotiate favorable terms.
o Coordinate product orders, deliveries, and inventory replenishment.
o Monitor product quality and freshness.
6. Store Maintenance and Cleanliness:
o Ensure the store is clean, organized, and well-maintained.
o Oversee maintenance tasks, repairs, and equipment upkeep.
o Implement food safety protocols.
7. Community Engagement:
o Represent the store within the local community.
o Participate in community events, sponsorships, and outreach programs.
o Build positive relationships with customers and community members.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or related field (preferred but not required).
· Proven experience in grocery store management or a similar leadership role.
· Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
· Knowledge of retail operations, inventory control, and financial management.
· Familiarity with IGA brand standards and commitment to quality.
