Description:

Position Summary:

The Farm Mechanic 1 is responsible for a variety of tasks associated with the repair and maintenance of farm machinery and equipment. This position maintains the shop, equipment, and materials in safe and orderly conditions. The role is essential to support organizational goals and model best practices, guided by our values of Excellence, Accountability, Transparency and Stewardship (EATS).

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists with maintains, repairs, and overhauls farm machinery, and tractors.
  • Assists with reassembling machines and equipment following repair, testing operation, and adjusting as necessary.
  • Records details of repairs made, and parts used.
  • Reads work orders or descriptions of problems to determine repairs or modifications needed.
  • Inspects mechanical equipment to locate damage, defects, or wear.
  • Installs machines or equipment replacement parts.
  • Disassembles equipment for maintenance or repairs.
  • Cleans and lubricates parts.
  • Drives trucks to haul tools and equipment for on-site repairs of large machinery.
  • Ensures vehicles and equipment are properly maintained and safe for operation.
  • Ensures that all paperwork such as purchase orders, maintenance report, etc. are correctly filled out and turned in on a timely basis.
  • Communicates and cooperates with farm supervisors and managers regarding equipment issues including operation, safety, and cost effectiveness.
  • Participates in safety inspections, incident investigations, and safety meetings as required.
  • Assists with cooling of product and shipping during harvest season.
  • Ensures work area is safe, neat, and organized as necessary for efficient job performance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred.
  • 2+ years of farm mechanic experience.
  • Valid driver's license and driving record acceptable to the Company's insurance carrier.
  • Bilingual verbal and written English/Spanish, preferred.


Compensation details: 28-28 Hourly Wage
