Job Description

Position Overview: We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Education Teacher to join our team on a contract basis in Lafayette, AL. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of students with special needs, collaborating with educators, families, and support staff to ensure every student has access to a high-quality education. As a valued member of our team, you will play a critical role in providing essential services and support to students with diverse learning needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities, based on assessments and input from multidisciplinary team members.
  • Provide direct instruction and support to students with special needs, adapting instructional strategies to meet individual learning styles and abilities.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to ensure inclusive practices and accommodations are effectively implemented in the classroom.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies and interventions as needed to promote academic and social-emotional growth.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of student assessments, progress reports, and communication with parents and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in team meetings, professional development opportunities, and school-wide initiatives aimed at improving outcomes for students with disabilities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or related field.
  • Valid teaching license or certification in Special Education from the state of Alabama.
  • At least one year of recent experience working as a Special Education Teacher in a school-based setting.
  • Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, families, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
