Description

1.Safety

1.       Demonstrate a solid understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) for the various areas of the plant.  Including bringing equipment, tools, etc.

2.       Assist in maintaining a clean, safe and organized work space

3.       Demonstrate safe work habits by following all safety rules and general plant rules

4.       Wear Personal Protection Equipment: Cut resistant gloves, hard hats while in Production, or safety glasses and specific protective equipment based task being done

5.       Successfully complete the mandatory E.A. Sween Safety  quarterly safety training

 

2.

Automation/Controls Technician:

 

·       Display an advanced ability to manage time and perform self-directed work.

·       Build documentation for in house designs and, or training purposes.

·       Perform all programming of VFDs, PLCs and HMIs.

·       Provide training and assistance to Line Technicians on all automation equipment, control circuits troubleshooting.

·       Provide back up support for all Line Technicians including die changes and change overs as necessary.

·       Ability to work with outside vendors to improve current processes or find future process improvements.

·       Display a basic understanding and aptitude of mechanical processes and procedures while troubleshooting equipment

a.       Ability to use basic hand tools on the floor

b.       Identify mechanical issues and remedy

c.       Ability to perform mechanical repairs efficiently and effectively

·       Display an advanced understanding and aptitude of electrical processes and procedures while troubleshooting equipment

a.       Using a meter to perform high level troubleshooting to component level.

b.       Replace/Program electrical components and complete complex wiring.

c.       Advanced electrical abilities

·       Display basic ability to use shop equipment

a.       Mill

b.       Lathe

c.       Drill Press

d.       Band saws

e.       Welder

f.        And hydraulic presses

·       Help to build the PM procedures for all automation equipment, help to build spare parts inventory for all automation equiupment.

 

·       Follow all aspects of the Maintenance Planning Process

a.       Use and help validate PM Job Plans

b.       Use Asset Essentials to create a Work Order

·       Follow all aspects of the Parts Process

a.       Understand Storeroom Layout

b.       Parts Checkout process and expectations

c.       Using Asset Essentials (parts lookup, etc.)

·       Use Redzone to communicate with fellow co-workers and cross functional teams

·       Must maintain good attendance, GMP and Safety records

 

 

3. Quality                                                                                                                                                        

  1. Have an understanding of SQF Level 3 (Food Safety & Quality)

 

 

  1. Have an understanding of regulatory & customer requirements

 

 

  1. Have an understanding of HACCP plans

 

 

  1. Understand your responsibility in protecting the safety and quality of our food through proper GMPs

 

 

  1. Report any questionable product to the QA, Supervisor or QC

 

 

 

4. Teamwork                                                                                                                                  

  1. Assist in providing a friendly, positive work environment.  Show respect for all other co-workers.  Get along with all co-workers. 

 

 

  1. Ability to accept work instructions & complete requests from co-workers

 

 

  1. Provide input and feedback on department updates, status, changes, etc.
  2. Provide training for Line Technicians as needed.

 

 

  1. Complete other duties as assigned

 

 

 

 

5. Continuous Improvement                                                                                                    

  1. Understand and follow general principles and goals of EAS Continuous Improvement/LEAN program

 

 

  1. Lead internal projects designed at reducing manual labor processes
  2. Take a lead role in new equipment design/install project
  3. Be willing to participate in any company mandated or recommended training to grow skills within given scope of the role

 

6.  Automation/Controls Technician:  Demonstrate the mastery of the following standard work processes

                          

1.      Repair and maintain equipment using the industry standards and collaborating with other departments as needed

2.      Work with other departments to ensure repairs are completed on timely basis

1.       Completely & correctly complete all required documents for Production and the department

a.       PMs

b.       Other documentation as required

 

 

 

Required Qualifications:

A.    Have good communication skills

B.    Be proficient at Microsoft Word, Google Drive and Outlook

C.    Ability to manage time and workload efficiently and independently

D.    Highly proficient at electrical troubleshooting and logic processes

E.     High level understanding of automation processes and design

F.     Maintenance activities are conducted in a food safety certified environment so previous food experience is strongly preferred.

G.    Have strong knowledge of automation software ( RSLogix, CCW, Factory Talk ME and others)

H.    Five years previous Maintenance Technician with two years Controls/Automation Technician experience or completed Controls/Automation degree and 3-5 years industrial maintenance experience.

I.      Ability to train on 1st shift if needed

 

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

A.     >20% of shift spent in refrigerated production rooms under 50°F

B.     Ability to respond to off hour calls for support over the phone

C.     Some overtime is expected in the role

D.     Ability to life >50Lbs. on occasion
