Position Summary:

Sovah Health in Danville, VA. is seeking a Full-Time Certified Nursing Assistant to join our Day Shift Team (7a – 7p & EOW).

The CNA:

·       Under the supervision of an RN, perform basic patient care activities. 

·       Monitors vital signs, blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.

·       Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living, including but not limited to bathing, grooming, eating and ambulation.

·       Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff.

·       Assists with keeping patient rooms and common areas stocked, clean and orderly.

·       Assists patients in the use of toilet facilities, including bedpans.

·       Assists patients with ambulation, including the use of walkers and wheelchairs, when applicable.

·       Assists patients with feeding, when needed.

·       Assists patient with fluid intake, as directed, measures and records fluid intake and output.

·       Repositions patient, as appropriate.

·       Checks diapers/under pads with each position change and ensures patient cleanliness; provides linen change as needed.

·       Utilizes proper patient identification system, i.e., two patient identifiers.


Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

 

Certifications

  • American Heart Association HeartSaver CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider required.

License

  • Registration on the Virginia Board of Nursing Aide Registry required.    May have CNA license in another state but must obtain a CNA Certification by the Virginia Board of Nursing within 30 days of hire.

Required Skills

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Requires flexibility in scheduling and ability to work all shift patterns including week-ends and holidays to ensure continuity of care and appropriateness of nursing coverage to the patients of Sovah Health Danville on all units.

Minimum Work Experience

  • One (1) year as a CNA, Respiratory Care Assistant, Rehab Tech, Certified Medical Assistant, EKG Tech, EMT, Phlebotomist, or equivalent clinical experience preferred.
