Job Description:

L3Harris is looking for candidates for the Senior Scientist in Electrical and Hardware Engineering in our Navigation Solutions (NS) business in Anaheim, CA (IEC).  The candidate will be responsible for and provide hands-on senior expert level capability in the electrical and hardware systems for multiple programs. The candidate must have deep Electrical Engineering and broad Engineering technical and leadership expertise with experience in military GPS and Position Navigation and Timing (PNT) technology or other RF systems. Our Navigation Solutions products provide advanced military GPS and Position, Navigation, Timing (PNT) capabilities in military embedded real-time systems that can be used in weapons, ground, airborne, maritime, and space environments.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Provides overall hands-on technical expertise in Electrical and Hardware Engineering for NS programs.
  • Recognized as an external and internal expert and thought leader with deep mastery and substantive technical expertise in Electrical RF hardware designs as well as advanced business knowledge and leadership capabilities.
  • Ensures a cohesive team and trust within the Hardware Engineering Organization.
  • Communicates within and outside own function to explain and gains cooperation on policies and practices.
  • Makes substantial improvements to processes, systems, and solutions.
  • Plans and establishes goals and objectives for Electrical and Hardware Engineering with direct impact on the short-term and long-term operational results.
  • Leads, directs, coaches, and reviews the work of Electrical and Hardware Engineering personnel to accomplish near-term and long-term operational plans and results.
  • Works under consultative direction against annual goals and objectives to manage large, complex project initiatives of strategic importance to the organization.
  • Maintains outstanding communication with higher management and with the employees in the organization.
  • Collaborate with other business areas to execute programs and business development.
  • Potential travel up to 25% of the time.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or related discipline with a minimum of 15 years of prior related experience or a Graduate degree with a minimum of 13 years of prior relevant experience.   In lieu of a degree, minimum of 19 years of prior related experience.
  • 16+ years of experience in hands-on Electrical Engineering Development for DoD Programs for Development, Production, and IRAD/CRAD programs.
  • 10+ years of RF signal processing hardware design with experience in L-band RF systems and RF receiver design, including fundamental design knowledge in antenna systems.
  • 10+ years of design and development of high frequency, RF circuitry, and high bandwidth A2D network.
  • 10+ years of tuning/re-tuning RF channels from antenna to digitization of the signal.
  • 10+ years of schematics capturing, building parts, and PCBA layout in the domain of RF, high speed BW circuits, and CERDES design.
  • 10+ years of experience in leading/managing/tracking projects, proposals, processes, and employees.
  • 10+ years of experience in leading teams for successful completion of project objectives within stringent technical, schedule, and budget requirements.
  • 10+ years experience demonstrating strong verbal and written skills for both the internal team and with customers and program stakeholders.
  • 5+ years of experience in earned value management, metrics development and tracking, and basis of estimates.
  • Must be a US Citizen.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation) to all levels of personnel experience.
  • Experience and understanding in the technical details of GPS, MGNSS, other PNT technology.
  • Knowing design and development of High Frequency and RF circuitry to 2GHz.
  • Experience using Altium Design Studio.
  • Experience with FPGA designs using VHDL/Verilog with emphasis in digital signal processing.
  • Proficient with design tools such as Matlab/Simulink, Cameo, P-Spice, Agilent ADS, and Ansys HFSS.
  • Proficient with FPGA design tools such as Xilinx ISE, Xilinx EDK, and ModelSim.
  • Proficient with DO-254 and DO-178 system designs.
  • Active DoD SECRET clearance.
