The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position.  The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices. 


 


What You Will Do
Evaluates, plans, directs and administers Rehab Therapy prescribed by a licensed physician. Coordinates, assesses, and communicates to ensure the delivery of quality patient care in Rehab Therapy area. Scope of role includes: department/unit operational coordination; quality controls and improvements; regulatory compliance; set implementation of standards, procedures & policies, etc; evaluation of best use of resources; internal and external customer satisfaction; and professional development of staff. Applies the concepts derived from management and communication theory, group dynamics, counseling methodologies, and clinical judgment to ensure quality patient care and programs.

Required Qualifications
  • 5 Years Experience in all aspects of appropriate therapy discipline
  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED

Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate of an approved professional school or graduate of accredited college or university with a certificate in therapy discipline

Other Qualification Requirements
  • Current State Licensure or Registered Professional Experience and/or Certificate of Clinical Competence or Clinical Fellowship Year.

Essential Functions
  • Achieves financial outcomes
    Is held accountable for maintaining operating units within budgeted cost per UOS. Develops achievable action plans when actual exceeds budgeted cost per UOS.
    Contributes to the identification and operationalizes cost reduction measures or identifies revenue enhancing opportunities.
    Coordinates departmental workload and staffing to optimize services in and efficient and productive manner.
    Implements processes to reduce the total number of worker's compensation claims for the assigned cost center.
    Assists with preparation of the budget.
  • Communication
    Exhibits courtesy and cooperation and respect towards patients, visitors, physicians and co-workers in all interpersonal and telephone interactions in order to create a positive public image and harmonious work environment.
    Exchanges ideas or information effectively in both oral and written form.

  • Department operations
    Performs all duties as necessary to facilitate efficiency in daily departmental operations, program development, quality assessment and improvement, and optimal patient care delivery in a cost effective manner. Facilitates departmental productivity and staffing.
    Maintains a positive and professional atmosphere for the patients and staff.
    Adheres to State, CARF and JCAHO standards, department QA standards, third party payor and regulatory requirements.
    Provides leadership and supervision of clinical staff to provide for the production of high quality work.
    Provides leadership of non-clinical staff to provide for orderly workflow and quality performance of work.
    Reports problems relating to staff, morale, and work methods.
    Oversees recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling and evaluation of clinical staff/non-clinical staff.
    Assures staff performance appraisals for assigned cost center are conducted in a timely manner (within 30 days). Maintains up to date employee records.
    Coaches, counsels, and institutes developmental and corrective action plans as necessary. Assists staff to access services provided by Human Resources and EAP.
    Assures that all pertinent information is provided to staff through staff meetings and other forms of formal and informal communication.
    Actively supports leadership decisions and is accountable for ensuring department compliance with them.
  • Patient care coordination and documentation
    Evaluates and treats patients using advanced clinical knowledge and skills in therapy techniques within the scope of care in a manner that is cost-effective and appropriate to the patient's diagnosis, age and culture.
    Demonstrates knowledge and safe use of modalities, equipment and therapeutic procedures.
    Coordinates and directs patient care to ensure patients' needs are met and hospital policy is followed.
    Patient Care and Documentation adheres to Sharp HealthCare guidelines, professional guidelines, and meets third-party payor and regulatory requirements.
    Is identified as a clinical expert and serves as clinical resource and contributes to professional development/education of staff members, other professionals and/or general public. Provides training for staff in area(s) of expertise including the development of education, research and/or clinically oriented projects.
    Collaborates with Rehab leadership in clinical and operational projects.
    Supervises all treatment procedures and patient care activities of clinical staff.
  • Regulatory compliance
    Assures quality outcomes and a favorable State, Federal and Regulatory review through compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements.
    Reviews or coordinates the review of quality variance reports for assigned cost centers, identifies trends, and develops action plans for resolution. Identifies and trends learning needs of staff and works with other Leadership team members to assure needs are met.
    Develops, updates, and implements policies and procedures as necessary for the operation and control of assigned cost centers.
    Maintains knowledge of and is accountable for assuring compliance with regulatory and legal requirements of assigned cost centers.
    Assists with preparation for JCAHO, CDPH and CARF surveys and is held accountable for compliance with standards for designated operating units.
