Overview of the Position:

Learn and understand the proper operation of the employees machine (Lathe / Mill). Be responsible for that machine, report any problems to Management. Use and be able to read micrometers, and bore gauges. Learn and be able to indicate or zero parts on machines. Grind parts to the specifications called for on Travelers. Be familiar with the company computer system, knowing how to clock parts to locations and document the required paperwork.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Learn and understand the proper operation of your machine, reporting any problems to Management

2. Use and be able to read micrometers, and bore gauges

3. Center chucks on machine to accept parts for grinding

4. Machine indicate or zero parts on machines

5. Machine parts to the specifications called for on Travelers

6. Properly lubricate grinding equipment and parts

7. Use a power hand tool to grind or buff parts

8. Use proper hearing, eye, and foot protection as required

9. Understand the potential exposures to metal filings and particles. Know and understand the dust recovery system and associated safety rules, and the potential exposures to grinding dust and dressing rock dust

10. Have knowledge and understanding of Appendix A. Safety Procedures

11. Learn the proper use of the dot welding machine

12. Have knowledge and understanding of the AS9110 Quality Policy

13. Have knowledge and understanding of the Control of Non-conforming product

14. Have knowledge and understanding of the AS9110 Procedures that apply to your specific machine(s)

15. Comply with company rules and the dress code

16. Keep your assigned area and machine clean

17. Use all required safety equipment including machine guards and dust collectors

Education / Experience Requirements:

1. Must have H. S. Diploma or GED

2. Must speak, read and write the English language

3. Should have basic computer software skills

4. Should have intermediate mathematical skills (Concepts and calculations involving decimals, percentages, etc.)

5. Should have knowledge of the use of measuring devices (micrometers, c-micrometers, bore gauges, etc.)

6. Prior work experience in conventional machining (Mill / Lathe) helpful but not require.

7. Should be able to read blueprints
  • Have knowledge of and understand the Control of Non-conforming product
  • Have knowledge and understanding of Suspected Unapproved Parts
  • Have knowledge and understanding of all safety procedures applicable to the job or jobs being performed
  • Have an understanding of how to look up SDS on any chemical they may come in contact with


Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representatives of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

• Is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; and lift up to 80 pounds.

• Is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.

• Is frequently required to talk or listen.

• Works in moderate noise levels.

• Lift parts and part chucks up to 80lbs.
