Job Summary

Hanover Bank is looking for a full-time Special Assets Officer III. This position will manage a portfolio of performing, nonperforming, and charged-off problem loans ("Special Assets"), while maintaining adherence to Department, Compliance, and Bank policies. Manage directly assigned accounts as well as interact with portfolio managers in the lending units. Partake in the quarterly Asset Classification Committee in support of the Senior Special Assets Officer. Have a contributing role in assessing potential impairment for a problem loan and work closely with select outside bank counsel to ensure the bank's interests are properly represented.


Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages specific high-risk credits with dual goals of speedy resolution and maximizing the Bank's return, while always being sensitive to maintaining a positive and professional image for the Bank in the marketplace.
  • Develop and recommend strategies for all assigned borrowers. Recommend whether the strategy is an exit, or retain, and take that strategy to the finish line.
  • Provide direction, guidance, and assistance to account officers and portfolio managers in the business units with borrowers showing heightened weakness.
  • As warranted, provide timely updates to the SSAO on any existing or emerging problem loans, while also preparing for the quarterly Asset Classification Committee where all executive management is to be brought fully up to date.

Education and Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in loan underwriting/commercial borrower relationship management/loan portfolio management and/or portfolio analytics.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting/Business Administration or related field preferred.

Salary: $116,000 - $137,000
