SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Production Supervisor, the Packer Operator is responsible for operating packaging equipment and supplying packaging equipment with shippers, plastic bottles, glue, etc.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES **include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Operate case packer and case sealer in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Supply glue to glue pots or retention bin
  • Operate the case erector in a safe and efficient manner, keeping shippers supplied in the machine.
  • Operate Weber Label Equipment
  • Assist in size and product changeovers on the line. This includes mechanical changeovers on the packer, case erector and can sealer or assisting filler or labeler operator in product changeovers.
  • Ensure that the code dates are correct and in place for each product.
  • Clean the packer, case sealer using cleaners (with personal protective equipment) such as general cleaner, chlorine, etc.
  • Document line check forms, quality verification of code dates, correct labels, shippers, Weber labels, etc.
  • Adhere to all plant GMP, Housekeeping, Safety, lock out/tag out and HACCP guidelines.
  • Responsible for compliance with the safety policy and accident prevention and compliance programs.
  • Responsible for reviewing work areas for potential losses and loss control opportunities and for reporting hazards, injuries/illnesses, and other losses to supervisors.
  • Cross-train on other jobs in the department.
  • Safely lock out each piece of equipment.

**EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

**LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

**MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

**

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

**REASONING ABILITY

**

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
