Position Summary

The Senior Supply Chain Specialist will support the stability of the medical device manufacturing processes. Key activities required for the role include materials management, purchasing, strategic sourcing to identify cost improvement activities, planning, and supplier relationship management.


Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee manufacturing site inventory storage and movement.
  • Responsible for purchasing activities to support production.
  • Develop working relationships with suppliers and internal customers. This may include leading business reviews with relevant suppliers.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to produce better savings and further value for spend, as well as identifying and addressing opportunities for lead time improvements. This may include reviewing supplier contracts and assisting negotiations as appropriate.
  • Ensure sourcing and supplier management activities align with the strategy identified by the materials manager and procurer.
  • Collaborate with the Quality and Quality Engineering team to assess new suppliers for addition to the Approved Supplier List.
  • Assist in developing detailed sourcing and category plans to maximize effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Manage second source projects to have alternate materials qualified and reduce the supply chain risk. This includes working cross functionally with a team to manage resource, time, and cost constraints.
  • Work with R&D and technical operations to understand sourcing and supplier relationship needs for upcoming new products.
  • Work with manufacturing department to achieve daily department goals.
  • Keep the area in compliance with 5S standards.
  • Support incoming inspections of materials.
  • Establish a process to build relationships with supplier and identify upcoming material shortages
  • Maintain GMP compliance by following area procedures and communicating non-compliant issues to the area supervisor.
  • Support finance relating to the month end close of the reporting period (transaction completion, etc.).
  • Manage shipping supplies and packaging kanban to assure adequate materials are available.
  • Record inventory accurately to identify purchasing needs
  • Minimize cost associated with expired inventory items
  • Utilize an ERP system to manage inventory and provide visibility to other users.
  • Identify opportunities to make the ERP system more efficient and accurate
  • Ability to maintain and improve on spreadsheets to assess material management, including the process to obtain the inputs into the model (i.e. lead time, consumption rate)
  • Incorporate new methods and processes to improve existing operations
  • Investigate or resolve operational problems, such as material use variances or bottlenecks
  • Own the ERP transactions upon order issuance through fulfillment. Create instructions to formalize the process of moving material and orders through an ERP system. Track product to ensure reliable on time delivery through sterilization and product release.
  • Regular reporting of KPIs related to receiving, stock review, and purchasing
  • Embodies the Company’s purpose operating principles, building a positive and productive team culture.
  • Comply with Company policies and procedures.
  • Authorized to access employee and/or patient PHI and ePHI only as needed for job-related functions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical or business-related field or equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in manufacturing environment, preferably medical device manufacturing.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret scientific and statistical data.
  • Ability to operate and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong assessment and troubleshooting skills.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work within deadlines.
  • Follow all safety rules and safety procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft office programs (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
  • Able to travel for work as needed.
  • Satisfactorily pass comprehensive background screening.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

  • Typical work environment for a professional office space and occasionally works in a laboratory, supply room, and/or clean room environment.
  • Occasional exposure to hazardous materials requiring appropriate PPE and precautions when working with hazardous materials and chemicals.
  • Largely a stationary role with some moving from place to place.
  • Constant use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, monitor and other office equipment.
  • Occasional use of laboratory equipment.
  • Requires some finite hand/eye coordination.
  • Occasionally picks up, carries, and moves items up to 30 lbs.
  • Some evening and weekend work depending upon workload.
  • Some overnight travel may be required for work, events, and training.
