Position Overview

The purpose of this position is to oversee the production part approval process (PPAP) for the Springfield facility. This role’s primary responsibility will be collecting/updating all necessary documentation involved with the PPAP process. This position also assists the Quality Manager in auditing Quality Processes and Procedures. This will be a temporary position, estimated to last 6-12 months, with potential for full-time status after.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works to supply products and services that meet or exceed the customers’ expectations. Follows the documented quality systems and processes that are continually being improved to satisfy our customers’ needs.
  • Setup and creation of all necessary documentation for PPAP process
  • Duties include obtaining documentation about measurements, materials, assembly and installation requirements for parts by Customer’s specific requirements.
  • Maintains PPAP, completing all paperwork as required for tracking and timely submittal, and document control including distribution/removal of obsolete prints, forms, and or work instructions
  • Maintains sample parts as required
  • Analyze and verify the dimensional capability of products and processes (Includes suppliers)
  • Understand Gage R&R’s and Capability Studies
  • Accurately document the results of all inspections and testing on appropriate forms, communicates immediate rework needs or quality issues in a timely manner.
  • Analyze and interpret blueprints, data, manuals, and other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment and certification methods, formulas, and measuring instruments required.
  • May assist Quality Manager or other Managers/Supervisors in other duties or special projects as needed

  • Monitor Processes, Materials, or Surroundings: Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems.
  • Inspecting Equipment, Structures, or Material: Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
  • Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates: Providing information to supervisors. Co-workers, and subordinates by telephone. In written form, e-mail, or in person.
  • Evaluating Information to Determine Compliance with Standards: Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
  • Making Decisions and Solving Problems: Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Interacting with Computers: Using computers and computer systems to enter data, or process information.
  • Tools: Personal protective equipment (hardhat, safety glasses, gloves, steel toes boots, etc.), tape measure, overhead crane, and forklift.
  • Technology: ERP software, inventory management software, and Microsoft Office software.

Qualifications

  • This particular position requires the individual to have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1-2 years relevant experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • PPAP documentation creation and submission experience required.
  • ISO 9001 and/or IATF 16949 knowledge required.
  • Experience with basic layout tools (caliper, micrometer, height gauge, etc.) required.

Preferences

  • Experience with CMM measurement equipment (Faro or similar)
  • Working knowledge of non-conforming materials reports (NCMRs), corrective action reports (CARs), and supplier corrective action reports (SCARs)

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

The employee is frequently required to be in a stationary position, move about the buildings, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The individual will be performing physical activities that require considerable use of the arms and legs and movement of the whole-body involving things such as lifting, balancing, moving, stooping, and handling of materials. The individual will frequently operate heavy machinery, office equipment, and use eye-hand coordination. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
