To provide a safe and therapeutic environment for clients participating in the summer programming associated with Nashwauk and Keewatin School Based Services. The Summer Program Aide will be working under the direction of a mental health professional and/or mental health practitioner and is responsible for implementing the mental health services identified in the client’s individual treatment plan.
Client Care
- Know where clients are at all times
- Provide a level of supervision in the community, on trips and/or other activities that is appropriate to maintain basic level of safety
Safety, Housekeeping and Maintenance
- Familiarize self with standards and expectations for program cleanliness and ensure compliance on a daily basis
- Report safety hazards through identified channels
- Know and utilize proper procedures for vehicle driving and cleanliness
- Demonstrate, teach, and hold clients accountable for maintaining a clean and orderly environment
- Know and understand agency, facility, and program policies and procedures to maintain the expected level of safety and security
Therapeutic Environment
- To ensure that a positive therapeutic environment is maintained on a daily basis
- Know the purpose and philosophy of the agency and program and act in accordance with it
- Be familiar with treatment needs and current level of functioning of each client in your program
- Know and follow through with assigned advocacy responsibilities
- Maintain the structure of a daily routine
- Participate in daily groups
- Establish rapport and a productive working relationship with each client
- Demonstrate and promote the values of respect, responsibility and caring
Communication
- Utilize and direct open communication style
- Provide timely information to others – supervisors, therapists, administrators, team members, support staff and others
- Know, understand and complete all required agency and program documentation
- High school diploma or GED.
- Individual must be non-judgmental in regards to lifestyle, race and/or economic status of clients.
- Must be 18 years old and have a valid Minnesota Drivers License.
