Part-Time Instructor, Public Speaking (Outreach Locations) (PTI3008)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions –

• Teach assigned Public Speaking courses. Teaching assignments may include evening courses and teaching via alternative delivery systems, such as Zoom and ITV.
• Assignments may include teaching at various local high school locations and travel to McPherson and/or Newton Outreach locations. High school semesters may extend beyond the HutchCC academic calendar.
• Plan and implement appropriate activities to supplement instruction.
• Plan, revise, and update curricula as assigned by the department chairperson.
• Maintain records and files as requested by the department, including submitting grades in a timely manner.
• Logon to the learning management system daily, respond to emails regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.
• Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.
• Comply with HutchCC policies, procedures, and practices.

Secondary –

• Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the department chairperson, the Executive Director of Outreach, Associate Director of Outreach, or the Vice President of Academic Affairs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s degree in Communication is required or a Master’s degree in another field may be considered with an additional 18 graduate credits in communication.
• College teaching experience preferred.
• Ability and willingness to teach via alternative delivery systems.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective professional relationships.
• Ability to communicate professionally with individuals from diverse ethnic, racial, socioeconomic, gender and disabilities populations.
• Physical requirements include: excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills; ability to understand words and respond effectively and appropriately; visual acuity to view a computer terminal; use appropriate judgment and apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations; light/indoor work environment.
• Mental requirements include the ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions about the position.

SALARY and STATUS:

The salary is based on the part-time faculty compensation plan.  This part-time position is not benefit eligible; exempt.

The hired candidate will be required to submit official, non-issued to student, transcripts.
