Position Summary

The Residential Energy Storage and Solar Electrician (Residential Electrician) role is a hybrid position combining elements of a residential electrician, PV installation lead, and construction manager.  The right candidate will possess strong technical and construction skills, but also have the important skills of a construction manager (such as strong communication skills and the ability to both plan ahead and problem solve on-the-spot). The Storage and PV Solar Electrician should expect to be involved in design review, project materials planning, job site management, installation of energy storage systems (batteries) and PV inverters, and job closeout work.   


Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure project build meets or exceeds the customers’ expectations
  • Supervises team members to ensure both quality control and project compliance to plans and specifications
  • Attend pre-construction planning and hand-off meetings
  • Contributes to and adheres to Safety Plan
  • Plan and execute the transport, handling, and installation of all components of designed energy storage system (batteries, backup interface, generation and backup load sub-panels, etc). Transport and install PV solar inverters, disconnects, conduit and wire
  • Coordinate, schedule, and execute as-needed power shutdowns with customers
  • Review BOMs, generate materials requests, and verify correct materials are available in time to maintain work flow
  • Maintain plans, material specifications, as-builts and be knowledgeable in all aspects of each assigned project
  • Responsible for project completion, on time, with minimal punch list
  • Responsible for onsite compliance with all company policies and procedures
  • Maintain a rapport with all the team members, demonstrating leadership abilities and good judgment
  • Optimize the profitability of the company through planning, crew management, and build-efficiency without jeopardizing safety and quality of work
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Experience and Qualifications

  • CERTIFIED ELECTRICIAN
  • Knowledge of energy storage systems and previous experience installing energy storage systems. Experience installing Tesla Powerwalls and LG Chem batteries a plus.
  • Commitment to safety, above all. Extensive knowledge and experience with electrical safety is required.
  • Knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems and NEC code requirements
  • Ability to design equipment layouts, relocate loads out of a meter main panel, add additional load centers, and find creative conduit run solutions
  • Ability to commission PV systems and troubleshoot problems (i.e. ground faults, polarity)
  • Proven experience identifying, and using power tools and hardware
  • Ability to communicate professionally with customers at all times
  • Proven experience running work sites and managing crew members
  • Excellent PV technical skills, excellent residential electrical skills (from branch circuit level to main panel upgrades), modest general construction skills and basic carpentry skills are required
  • Strong work ethic. Must possess positive attitude, be solution oriented and be committed to precise, high-quality work.
  • Commitment to consistent improvement and process efficiency
  • Ability to document work with photos on phone, then upload and organize photos
  • Basic computer skills. Ability to effectively use Google Drive, Salesforce, email, calendar.
  • Current CA driver license with good driving record


Compensation

This full-time, year-round opportunity provides a competitive hourly wage plus overtime pay, as applicable. We have a long history of providing our field employees with flexible schedules.
