Job Overview:

The Lead Machinist plays a crucial role in the manufacturing process within A&K Railroad Materials Inc., overseeing the operation of CNC machines and manual equipment to produce high-quality rail products. Reporting to the production manager, the Lead Machinist is responsible for programming CNC software, managing production schedules, and ensuring adherence to safety standards. This role requires technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and leadership capabilities to maintain efficient production and meet customer demands.

Requirements:

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize machines at various stations to complete rail products.
  • Program CNC software and manage production from the machine.
  • Troubleshoot any issues and inspect the quality of finished products.
  • Utilize manual tools and equipment as needed.
  • Read work orders, blueprints, and plans for machine specifications and product output.


Qualifications & Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification in machining is preferred.
  • Proven experience operating CNC machines and manual equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, work orders, and specifications.
  • Familiarity with programming CNC software and G-code programming language.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift, carry, and manipulate heavy materials.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and certifications.


Physical Requirements:

  • Must possess physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull 50-pound loads.
  • Willingness to work in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand and walk up to eight hours per day.
  • Availability to work any shift when needed.
