Job: As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in a hospital setting in West Virginia, you will play a vital role in providing direct care and support to patients under the supervision of registered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical nurses (LPNs). Your compassionate and attentive approach will contribute to ensuring the comfort, safety, and well-being of patients during their hospitalization.

Responsibilities:

1. **Patient Care and Assistance:**

- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility, according to individualized care plans and patient needs.

- Provide basic nursing care and comfort measures to patients, such as positioning, turning, and ambulation, to promote optimal physical and emotional well-being.

2. **Vital Signs Monitoring:**

- Measure and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and respiratory rate, accurately and promptly as directed by the nursing team.

- Report any significant changes or abnormalities in vital signs to the appropriate healthcare professionals for further evaluation and intervention.

3. **Assistance with Nutrition and Hydration:**

- Assist with mealtime activities, including feeding, positioning, and providing assistance to patients with dietary restrictions or special nutritional needs.

- Encourage and support patients in maintaining adequate hydration by offering fluids and monitoring fluid intake and output as directed by the healthcare team.

4. **Mobility and Rehabilitation Support:**

- Assist patients with safe transfers, repositioning, and ambulation using proper body mechanics and assistive devices to prevent falls and promote independence.

- Collaborate with physical therapists and occupational therapists to support patients' participation in rehabilitation activities and exercises as prescribed.

5. **Comfort and Emotional Support:**

- Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families, fostering a caring and compassionate environment conducive to healing and recovery.

- Respond promptly to patients' requests for assistance and address their concerns with empathy and respect, maintaining dignity and confidentiality at all times.

6. **Environmental Safety and Infection Control:**

- Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for patients by performing routine tasks such as bed-making, room tidying, and equipment cleaning in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.

- Adhere to infection control practices and protocols to prevent the spread of infections and maintain a healthy environment for patients, visitors, and healthcare team members.

7. **Documentation and Communication:**

- Accurately document care provided, observations, and interactions with patients in electronic health records (EHRs) or other designated documentation systems as per hospital guidelines.

- Communicate effectively with the nursing team regarding changes in patients' conditions, concerns, or incidents, ensuring timely and appropriate follow-up actions.

Qualifications:

- Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the state of West Virginia.

- High school diploma or equivalent education required.

- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification preferred but not always required.

- Prior experience as a CNA in a hospital or healthcare setting preferred but not mandatory.

- Strong interpersonal communication skills and a compassionate demeanor.

- Ability to prioritize tasks, work efficiently under supervision, and collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
