That means we have a great career opportunity as a Mobile Diesel Mechanic for a self-motivated, experienced individual to join our Effingham dealership team. As a Mobile Diesel Mechanic, you are a vital resource to delivering and maintaining exceptional service to our customers through on-site repairs and fleet maintenance at customer locations or in the field. Tasks may include diagnostics, visual inspection, disassembly, reconditioning, or replacement of parts and components according to company policies, OEM specifications, and warranty processing guidelines.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Conduct routine maintenance on the truck, including filling tanks, checking oil, performing/documenting required inspections, and ensuring the vehicle is adequately stocked with tooling and parts necessary to repair and maintain diesel engine trucks. Maintain and operate all equipment according to company standards.
  • Perform consistent, high-quality work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy according to OEM, warranty, and company standards.
  • Read repair orders, observe and listen to vehicle operation, obtain diagnostics information, identify root cause malfunctions, efficiently plan work procedures, and perform high-quality repairs on a vehicle as authorized.
  • Perform general maintenance and major repair of all truck systems including engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, HVAC, electronics, and more.
  • Conduct repairs and install required parts and components according to certification credentials including DTNA specialized training modules, engines, and transmissions, as well as vendor product lines.
  • Understand cause and correction documentation in Procede plus ability to write thorough, organized documentation of diagnostic findings, repair status, and work performed using Service Notes to aid customer communication and warranty processing.
  • Ability to function independently and communicate effectively with customers and Service office.
  • Determine warranty claim status and complete necessary steps, documentation, and supplemental information to ensure warranty recovery.
  • Road tests vehicles to ensure the repairs performed have resolved the customer's complaint(s).
Qualifications

What We're Looking For:

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, physical, and drug screen.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Certificate from a diesel tech training school and/or a minimum of 10 years heavy-duty truck service experience in a shop setting
  • Class B CDL and ability to meet insurance requirements is required; Class A CDL with air brake endorsement is highly preferred
  • HVAC certification
  • Cummins IS Series, Allison Transmission, Caterpillar engines, Eaton, and Meritor certifications are highly preferred
  • Must have or complete DTNA 14 system certifications within 120 days in role
  • Welding and fabrication skills
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and commitment to providing quality work and delivering exceptional customer service 
  • Ability to work independently and with resourcefulness and excellent time management skills

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role can be physically demanding for all or part of the shift, including constant standing, walking, climbing stairs, climbing in and out of vehicles, and the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, bend, and balance in a variety of working conditions including within the dealership, customer facilities, and roadside. To successfully complete the tasks of this role, one must repeatedly and safely lift up to 75 lbs. unassisted.
