Pay Rate: $15 per hour
JOB TITLE: Laborer
DEPARTMENT: Department of Services for Children, Youth, and Families
POSITION LENGTH: End of September
SUMMARY: The Laborer is responsible for routine manual work necessary for the upkeep and operation of grounds.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Removes trash, cuts and trims grass and hedges using equipment or machinery available, rakes leaves, shovels and removes snow, litter control.
  • Maintains or repairs equipment or machinery used for grounds work.
  • Uses manual tools and uses power tools and machinery directly related to the above examples of work.
  • Loads and unloads trucks, moves and hauls appliances, equipment and supplies.
  • Digs and backfills trenches.
  • Maintains a safe work environment and exhibits safe work practices.
SAFETY:
  • Use and promote safe work practices in the office and in the field.
  • Follow all company safety programs and report any non-compliance to your manager.
  • Notify manager or safety personnel of any unsafe conditions.
