POSITION SUMMARY:

Countryway Insurance, a Virginia Farm Bureau Company, is growing and we are looking for an experienced Casualty Claims Representative to join our Claims Department team in Richmond, Virginia we will consider a candidate in VA, KY, NY, ME or PA. This position has the flexibility of being a remote work environment or onsite in our corporate office. This position is responsible for the investigation, evaluation and negotiation of casualty claims, ensuring they are resolved in a prompt, fair, courteous and professional manner.

Location:

Flexible - our headquarters is based in the Richmond, VA area in the beautiful West Creek Office Park and this role may be based in the office or remotely in the states of VA, KY, NY, ME or PA.

Office Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

Primary Duties:

  • Investigate, negotiate and settle all losses assigned including injury, non-injury, no fault, and liability claims.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures in the handling of all losses and other company matters.
  • Report all activity on all claim files to the company promptly.
  • Prioritize First Contact Settlement Communications with Claimants
  • Promptly reply to all complaints as requested.
  • Advise Underwriting Department on all poor risks
  • Comply with Unfair Claim Settlement Practices Act
  • Assist and give guidance to other claim personnel as requested.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Min. Education/Experience/Skill Requirements:

  • College degree or equivalent work experience
  • Applicable prior insurance claims experience
  • Obtain Non-Resident adjuster license in all CW states within 30 days of employment
  • Knowledge State traffic codes in all CW coverage states
  • Knowledge of tort laws affecting civil cases
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Proven customer service skills
  • Strong investigation and settlement skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous Casualty/Liability, no fault claims experience
  • Knowledge of insurance contracts issued by the company
