GreenGen is a DOE Qualified ESCO and has a GSA Supply Schedule contract (SIN 334512) through which it is actively pursuing and completing energy savings performance contracts (ESPCs) under FEMP's ESPC ENABLE program. GreenGen is also one of four small businesses on the Army ESPC III MATOC contract. In the past eight years, GreenGen has received Notices of Intent to Award for eight ESPC ENABLE projects; and has experience with the US Departments of Defense, Justice, Agriculture, and Transportation, Customs and Border Protection, and GSA. These projects comprise over 30% of all the projects under the ESPC ENABLE program. Additionally, GreenGen has performed work for states, cities, and municipalities, as well as transit and utility authorities.


POSITION SCOPE – This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer and supports energy efficiency and demand management programs in the public sector. As a Director, Public Sector, you'll work with senior leaders, enabling our teams to deliver the best of GreenGen, strengthen relationships with our most important clients and agencies, and accelerate growth for the firm. With a client-first mindset, you will align with GreenGen teams to execute business priorities and expand our public sector services footprint, help develop and deliver account strategies to address client issues, bring insights and leading practices to accounts, and drive operational efficiencies to keep client-facing and help GreenGen win work as we seek to broaden our public sector business to include more state and local opportunities under our existing contract vehicles.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES – Responsibilities will include technical writing, and project development/management for multiple public sector clients’ energy efficiency projects. The position requires strong technical capabilities, including knowledge of government contracting and procurement vehicles, building systems, energy efficiency, demand management, resilience, cleantech, and sustainability.


STRATEGIC

  • Build and deepen executive relationships with public sector customers
  • Articulate and implement strategic territory and account plans aligned to GreenGen’s strategic direction
  • Serve as a key member of the Public Sector team, helping to advance our market and technical strategy, as well as managing a small sales team
  • Ability to leverage C-level relationships with executives
  • Identify specific prospects/partners/channels to approach while communicating a relevant value proposition to potential customers
  • Understand the technical considerations, certifications, and procurement processes specific to the public sector
  • Assist the team in managing C-Suite relationships with key customers
  • Lead all operational functions for the Public Sector; Clearances; Partnership
  • Responsible for Public Sector Revenue, Support and Product deliverable target
  • Coach a growing team to create high performer
  • Lead corporate discussion of pricing strategy, GSA Schedule development and maintenance, and partnership programs in civilian and defense sectors
  • Lead discussion around strategy and cost for adapting commercial products to the government vertical and creating new products
  • Own the resulting strategy and its high level execution
  • Own relationships for key accounts. Ensure success of key pilot projects
  • Build up sales, sales engineering, customer success, program management and engineering teams as the company scales.


TACTICAL

  • Ensuring that the GreenGen team has the information and resources they need to execute the project 
  • Liaising with clients and internal stakeholders during the energy plan development process (energy auditing and project development)
  • Supporting GreenGen’s clients and the project on-site teams throughout the engagement
  • Supporting strategic/enterprise client engagements
  • Reviewing and providing QA/QC for client deliverables
  • Creating/administering project schedules with milestones/due dates to submit to client for approval 
  • Developing/updating internal and client-facing reporting and process templates
  • Preparing and submitting client deliverables, including assessment reports and client updates
  • Developing energy efficiency and net-zero carbon strategies on behalf of our clients
  • Researching and responding to opportunities in the public sector – RFPs, NOOs, RFQs, RFIs, Sources Sought, etc.
  • Performing other duties as assigned
  • Ability to travel to project sites up to 10% of the time.


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Minimum of 15 years relevant experience developing and managing energy performance contracting projects in the private sector or public sector, either in government agency or with a leading ESCO
  • Minimum of 15 years of project development/management experience
  • Must have sufficient knowledge of the FAR/DFAR and Government/DOD procurement practices
  • Knowledge of government contracting, specifically responses to solicitations, RFPs, etc.
  • Must find the development of win theme and value propositions for each opportunity enjoyable, exciting, satisfying, and rewarding
  • Must be extremely detailed oriented, well organized, and accurate yet imaginative in the preparation of capabilities and solutions
  • Must be able to manage a challenging workload independently when faced with unexpected changes in priorities and deadlines and possess the ability to work in high-stress, deadline-driven environment
  • Experienced in growing and managing a team of proposal development professionals
  • Possess a natural affinity for clean technologies and familiarity with the energy efficiency in the built environment industry in general including its leading distributors, service providers, and products and services
  • Strong work ethic and ability to multi-task on a sustained basis
  • Strong interpersonal networking skills and able to build relationships with individuals with diverse personalities
  • Strong analytical skills and must possess the ability to distinguish various competing priorities efficiently in determining when and where to focus resources
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, PDF editing, and desktop publishing
  • Formal proposal management training desired
  • E. license, CEM, CMVP, PMP or other related certification preferred

This role will be leading the effort to tell GreenGen’s story for each opportunity by organizing and driving the content creation effort, including proposal responses (e.g., RFP, RFQ, RFI). The individual must possess and rely on his/her inquisitiveness to learn about GreenGen history, culture, capabilities, competitiveness, imagination, and creativity and use this knowledge to develop a unique proposal for each competition. We are looking for a manager who is willing to invest time, energy, and passion into each proposal in order to prevail over the competition and win the award.


LOCATION – Position is based in Washington, DC metropolitan area; remote work (outside DC) will be considered for ideal candidates


TRAVEL – Within the US and possibly international will be required for this role up to 10% of the time
