Job Description
Production Assembler
Peoplelink Staffing Solutions in partnership with a prominent client in Bessemer, AL within the electrical power industry.

Production Assembler Job Summary:
· $15.50 per hour
· 6am-4:30pm Monday - Friday, 6am-11am on Saturday, if needed
· Work in safe manner wearing PPE and providing input to team leader/supervisor of any unsafe items or practices.
· Work as part of a team performing any variety of operations within the group to maintain flow of work.
· Follow processes and departmental procedures associated with the assembly area.
· Follow work instruction to assemble metal components using fixtures, jigs and hand tools.
· Monitor assembly operations; inspect parts for defects according to VDA 16 and Quality Alerts.
· Perform first piece/last piece and in process inspection as required by work instructions and Quality Alerts.
· Gage parts according to work instructions.
· Fill out daily checklist at beginning of operation and every hour afterwards/or as required.
· Compare Confirmation Sheets and material tickets to verify correct material is used at workstations.
· Examine material, verify part numbers, and check discrepancies such as damaged or unmarked parts.
· Ensure that parts are always properly identified with the correct part labels.
· Perform layered audit and quality checks as required.
· Monitor production flow. Track good parts, scrap, and rework on tracking sheets/production boards every hour as required.
· Enter quantity of good production, scrap and rework and any defect on the computer.
· Handle scrap and rework parts according to work instructions.
· Required to do training of new employees when instructed.
· Write production reports as needed.
· Must adhere to all TS16949 policies/guidelines/etc.
· Maintain a clean and organized work environment. Ensure 5-S is adhered to properly.
Production Assembler Qualifications:
· High School Diploma or GED Required
· Proven experience in assembling components or relevant role
· High attention to detail.
· Must be able to spot material and visual defects.
· Must have basic carpentry skills, ex read tape measure, use hand tools
· Must have basic computer skills and be able to do data entry using a computer system.
· Must have Mechanical Skills to operate equipment and hand tools.
· Good interpersonal and communication skills required.
· Good problem-solving skills
· The ability to work in a team environment, which includes being self-motivated, accepting responsibilities, completing assigned action items, and participating in a proactive manner in all team events.
· Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, work instructions, maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports. Ability to speak effectively to other Associates of organization.
· Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
· Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
· Frequently required to walk.
· Must be able to stand for long periods of time performing repetitive movements.
· Must be able to spot visual defects. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
· Occasionally required use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; squat; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk and hear effectively.
· Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
