Summary of Role:

The Community Advocate ensures that survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault are offered accessible, safe, trauma-informed services. This position provides advocacy, case management, crisis intervention, and safety planning to adult survivors of domestic violence in the Community Lifeline and Prevention Center at Safe Harbor. This position works with the needs of survivors and may travel to public spaces to meet with clients.

What you'll do:

  • Accompany clients to sexual assault forensic exams to complete intake paperwork and provide emotional support.
  • Develop methods, approaches, and procedures to meet program requirements and survivor's needs.
  • Potential to run psycho-educational groups for our community partners.
  • Responsible for crisis intervention, safety planning, needs assessment, and service implementation for domestic, human trafficking and sexual violence survivors.
  • Provide support and resources to assist survivors of domestic and sexual violence in gaining skills, training, education, or employment to support economic autonomy and stability.
  • Provide client support and advocacy through the judicial and criminal justice processes.
  • Responsible for referring individuals to appropriate community resources for additional assistance and counseling.

What we're looking for:

  • You have 1 year of experience working with domestic violence and/or sexual assault victims.
  • You are skilled in conflict resolution, problem solving, and crisis management.
  • You can relate positively to persons who are diverse in age, ethnicity, socioeconomic levels, beliefs, and lifestyles.
  • You have a Bachelor's Degree in social sciences or a related field, or have equivalent experience.
  • CPR Certification (Required but can be earned after hire)
  • You have a valid drivers license and are able to pass a background investigation check.

Schedule:


  • 8-9 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • On call for ferensic exams one day a week, one weekend a month, and two holidays a year.


Experience:


  • Domestic violence/sexual assault: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Case management: 1 year (Preferred)
