Job Description

The Industrial Engineer uses engineering tools and methods to help the production team increase productivity and maintain high quality standards in our unique high mix low volume production system. The successful candidate will be able to take input from the production team and work with them to design the layout of production spaces and develop/improve processes that improve the flow time, quality, on time delivery, and safety of our production system. They will be a good communicator that is able to understand the needs, objectives, and challenges of each production group. In addition to design and analysis, they will enjoy spending time in the shop evaluating processes and assisting with improvements. Often they will need the initiative to get the ball rolling on improvements themselves.

Job Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the production team to design, improve, and standardize processes, floor layouts, and systems for manufacturing the best possible product on time in a safe and efficient manner
  • Conduct studies to improve process and product by
  • Decreasing setup and cycle times
  • Improving the flow of material through shops
  • Developing inspection processes to ensure high quality product
  • Work with production shops to develop plans for maintaining and replacing manufacturing equipment
  • Assist with estimation of production times and related costs
  • Assume responsibility for all aspects of engineering for assigned tasks including
  • Design development and analysis
  • Prototyping and manufacturing
  • Testing and refining of the product
  • Proper documentation
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Production Manager

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering
  • Strong technical base in 2D CAD, 3D CAD, and engineering fundamentals
  • Experience with manufacturing layout and process improvement in fabrication, machining, and/or assembly environments
  • Experience in high mix low volume manufacturing environments is helpful but not required
  • Quick Response Manufacturing experience is helpful but not required
  • SAP experience is helpful but not required
  • Strong interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with customers to identify and prioritize customer needs
  • Positive, cooperative attitude with a passion for improvement, quality work, and achieving deadlines
  • Typical work week is 40-45 hours
