Job Title: Aircraft Systems Engineer

***Onsite, full time permanent direct hire***

We are in search of a highly skilled Aircraft Airframe Systems Engineer with a strong focus on aircraft systems. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in the design, development, integration, and certification of parachute systems projects. Additionally, you will be responsible for fostering collaboration with subcontractors and external suppliers to ensure project success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with various aircraft disciplines, including structural and electrical teams, to ensure seamless integration of parachute systems across different aircraft platforms.
  • Work closely with a diverse team of engineers to advance the design and development of cutting-edge parachute systems.
  • Identify, select, and manage relationships with suppliers critical to project success.
  • Actively engage in the development and certification of parachute systems under FAR Part 23.
  • Oversee supplier relationships by conducting weekly meetings, setting agendas, and facilitating action items.
  • Research industry standards and best practices, such as SAE and ASTM guidelines.
  • Utilize Creo to create detailed 3D models and drawings of parachute systems.
  • Author and review various engineering documents, including test plans, certification reports, and technical reports.
  • Conduct trade studies involving weight, cost, reliability, and manufacturability to optimize system performance.
  • Perform comprehensive ground, lab, and flight testing of parachute components and systems.
  • Travel as needed to testing sites and supplier locations.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills for effectively addressing technical issues.
  • Take ownership of project assignments and design outcomes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 6-8 years of engineering experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Distinguishing qualifications that will set you apart:

  • Prior experience with parachute systems.
  • Familiarity with extraction systems.
  • Knowledge of textiles used in parachute construction.
  • Proficiency in Windchill PDM and Creo/Pro-E.
  • Understanding of SAE ARP4754A & ARP4761 guidelines, ASTM standards, and DO-160 environmental testing.
  • Experience with type certification of an aircraft from inception to completion under any of the following regulations: 14 CFR Part 23/25/27/33/35/36 or equivalent.
