Description

The Children's Home of Poughkeepsie has been caring for children throughout the Hudson Valley for over 175 years! We strive to empower children and families to achieve optimal health and well being. We are currently seeking a Bilingual Medical Administrative Assistant to work in our Health Services Department.

The Medical Administrative Assistant assumes duties assigned by the Medical Team, including but not limited to preparing medical charts, setting up medical appointments for youth in care, assisting in maintaining the medical file, maintaining inventory for medical supplies for the clinic and medication cabinets, stocking first aid kits, and other clerical and administrative duties as assigned.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Escorts residents to and from medical appointments. Provides support to the resident. Obtains documentation and provides to nurse for records.
  2. Acts as a liaison between Children's Home nursing department and medical providers/vendors/school nurse. Utilizes communication skills.
  3. Maintains inventory and stock of medical supplies in the clinic and medication cabinets. Monitors and stocks first aid kits.
  4. Manages individual health tab in Kaleidacare, updates heights, weights, photos.
  5. Assists with filing and office tasks as assigned.
  6. Maintains inventory and distributes hygiene supplies.
  7. Maintains files in clinic with updated REIs.
  8. Other tasks as assigned.
  9. Is sensitive to and supportive of the children's cultural and ethnic heritage and values.

Schedule: FT, 40 hours-Sunday-Wednesday, 10am-9pm, Thursday-Saturday OFF

Qualifications

Essential:

  • High School diploma or associates degree with clerical experience

  • Bi-lingual Spanish- English

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

  • Positive, friendly attitude toward children.

  • Valid New York State Driver's License with good driving record as determined by the Agency.

Non-Essential: (preferred)

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field

  • Experience working with medical records and/or a healthcare setting
