Position Overview

This position plays a key role in assessing and monitoring client’s behaviors while in treatment for substance dependency. This position will assess clients’ immediate and long-term needs, develop a treatment plan to reduce or eliminate any substance abuse or negative thinking.


Essential Functions

  • Assist clients in articulating personal goals for recovery through the use of one-to-one and group sessions, support clients in identifying and creating goals, and developing recovery plans with skills, strengths, supports, and resources to support achieving those goals.
  • Assist clients in determining the steps they need to take in order to achieve these goals and self-directed recovery. Utilize and teach problem-solving techniques with individuals and groups.
  • Model effective coping skills and self-help strategies.
  • Work with medical and behavioral health providers to ensure coordination of services and that all case management & support service needs are met.
  • Ensure necessary documentation to meet funding contract(s) performance requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records regarding the patients' histories and progress, services provided, and other required information. Review and evaluate clients' progress in relation to measurable goals described in treatment and care plans.
  • Interview clients, review records and confer with other professionals to evaluate individuals' mental and physical condition and to determine their suitability for participation in a specific program.
  • Intervene as an advocate for clients or patients to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations.
  • Provide intake and program orientation for participant including, but not limited to, assessment of psychological and social functioning and the development, implementation, and ongoing review of the participants Individual Treatment Plans in accordance with the Title IX regulations and Program protocol and policies.
  • Conduct urinalysis tests on participants as appropriate, documenting results.
  • Interact with the criminal justice system and/or referral sources, when necessary.
  • Recommend leaves of absence, dismissal/suspension, reinstatement, completion, etc. for participants in accordance with Title IX and Program policies.


Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to management when required
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skills
  • Provide excellent customer service to clients, vendors, and suppliers
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Supervisory Responsibility

This position will not have any supervisory responsibilities


Requirements:

Travel

Frequent travel (up to 70%) to different site locations

Education, Experience, Certifications, and Licenses

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience as a Recovery Specialist, Substance Abuse or Behavioral Disorder Counselor in community mental health
  • Licensure/Certification in Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counseling (RADT or CADC)
  • Valid Drivers’ License
