POSITION:

Pipe Fitter

I. SUMMARY OF POSITION:


  • Assembles, installs, pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial production and processing systems

II. RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Cuts, threads, and hammers pipe to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threading machines and benders.
  • Assembles and secures pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment, according to specifications, by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, and threading joints.
  • Inspects, examines, and tests installed systems and pipelines, using pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methods.
  • Measures and marks pipes for cutting and threading.
  • Lays out full scale drawings of pipe systems, supports, and related equipment, following blueprints.
  • Plans pipe system installations, or repairs according to specifications.
  • Selects pipe sizes and types and related materials, such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, according to specifications.
  • Modifies, pipe systems, units, fittings, and related machines and equipment, following specifications and using hand and power tools.

III. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Must be able to read and speak English
  • High School Education or equivalent
  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • NCCER Certified
  • Provide your own personal tool in a lockable toolbox

IV. REPORTING REQUIREMENTS:


  • Shop Foreman

V. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to lift 40 pounds
  • Available for short - term travel
