Job Description
Overview: We are seeking a skilled Mold Setter to join our team. As a Mold Setter, you will play a crucial role in the production process, ensuring that molds are set up correctly and efficiently to meet production goals while maintaining high-quality standards. This position requires a combination of technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
Mold Setup and Adjustment: Set up molds for production runs according to production schedules and specifications. Adjust molds as necessary to achieve the desired product specifications, including size, shape, and quality.
Machine Preparation: Prepare blow molding machines for production runs by installing and securing molds, adjusting machine settings, and connecting auxiliary equipment such as cooling systems and trimmers.
Quality Control: Perform visual inspections of molds and finished products to ensure they meet quality standards. Make adjustments to molds or machines as needed to correct defects and maintain product consistency.
Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot equipment and mold issues during production runs, identifying and resolving problems quickly to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.
Maintenance and Repair: Assist with mold maintenance and repair activities, including cleaning, lubrication, and replacement of components as needed to ensure optimal performance and longevity of molds.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of mold setups, adjustments, and production parameters. Complete required documentation such as production logs, quality reports, and maintenance records.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following lockout/tagout procedures when working on machinery or molds.
Collaboration: Coordinate with production supervisors, machine operators, and maintenance technicians to optimize production efficiency and address any issues that arise during production runs.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certification in plastics manufacturing or mold setting preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with blow molding machines and mold setup procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and production specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot equipment and mold issues effectively.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality products.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work various shifts and overtime as needed to meet production demands.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Standing, walking, and bending for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for manipulating molds and machinery components.
