MECHANICAL ENGINEER / DESIGNER
There is an immediate opportunity with one of North America’s premier processors, buyers, sellers and recyclers of scrap metals of all kinds and is a key supplier to the metals industry of North America. They are in need of a Mechanical Engineer / Designer at one of their Metropolitan Detroit, Michigan, locations. The Mechanical Engineer / Designer will be responsible for planning and implementing engineering projects related to new capital improvements or equipment upgrades, investigating mechanical problems, and developing technical solutions.

Summary of Responsibilities of the Mechanical Engineer / Designer:
- Manage capital project activities, including appropriation requests, project estimates, engineering design and specifications, bidding specifications, installation, etc.
- Work with consulting firms, suppliers, and construction/maintenance contractors.
- Perform engineering investigations, corrective actions, and implementation of mechanical problems.
- Design and develop downstream processes.
- Participate in the planning and coordination of plant shutdown activities.
- Make recommendations for potential cost-saving projects.
- Conducted studies and prepared reports on project feasibility and cost projections.
Minimum Qualifications of the Mechanical Engineer / Designer:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or civil engineering preferred.
- 2 years minimum of experience in an industrial environment
- Engineering and mechanical knowledge; and experience in determining malfunctions of mechanical equipment or devices.
- Experience in the recycling industry preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working on Bailers, Shredders, and ASR Plants.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.
- Computer experience with Microsoft Office and Inventor preferred.
