Construction Bookkeeper/Controller
We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Bookkeeper for a terrific company. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial transactions and maintaining accurate records for construction projects. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the smooth financial operations of our construction projects and requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in accounting software.
Responsibilities:
• Manage accounts payable and receivable for construction projects, including invoicing, billing, and collections.
• Reconcile financial statements, bank accounts, and credit card statements to ensure accuracy.
• Process payroll for construction personnel and subcontractors, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
• Track project expenses and maintain comprehensive records of all financial transactions.
• Generate financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow projections.
• Assist in budget preparation and monitoring to ensure projects are completed within financial constraints.
• Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
• Stay updated on industry regulations and compliance requirements related to construction accounting practices.
• Assist in year-end financial audits and tax preparation processes.
• Perform other accounting and administrative tasks as needed to support the finance department and overall business operations.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• Proven experience as a construction bookkeeper or in a similar role in the construction industry.
• Proficiency in accounting software, with experience using NetSuite considered a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Strong understanding of construction accounting principles and practices.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage deadlines effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
• Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and construction accounting compliance requirements.
• Prior experience with payroll processing and familiarity with prevailing wage regulations is a plus.
• Certifications such as Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP) are desirable but not required.
