Human Resources Director

JOB SUMMARY: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail oriented Human Resources Director to join our team. The Human Resources Director will be responsible for various HR functions, including but not limited to recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, training and development, and benefits administration. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of HR best practices and regulations, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion. The Human Resources Director will supervise the Payroll Clerk and work closely with the Chief Financial Officer to ensure accuracy in payroll and benefits administration.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • At least five years of verifiable human resource experience.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:

  • Familiar with COBRA, ERISA, FMLA, FLSA, ADA, ADEA, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as well as all other federal and state employment laws.
  • Knowledge of and experience with varied human resource information systems.
  • Proficient with, but not limited to the following software programs: Word, Excel, and the Kronos payroll system.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Good physical and mental health. Must have finger and hand dexterity to handle and utilize equipment and records.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide excellent customer service to employees by addressing HR questions and documenting employee concerns in a timely manner.
  • Assist in implementing and revising the company’s compensation program.
  • Provide timely assistance to team members regarding human resources questions and issues.
  • Provide information and clarification to team members regarding specifics of the company handbook.
  • Carry out disciplinary actions and assist with terminations of employment.
  • Provide coaching and counseling with assigned staff members.
  • Assist in preparing offer packets and other employee related information.
  • Coordinate new hire paperwork.
  • Assist with developing, revising and recommending personnel policies and procedures in the employee handbook.
  • Write and place employment ads as well as maintain the applicant tracking database.
  • Develop and implement recruiting strategies for the facility and implement a variety of recruiting methods.
  • Regularly report to CEO on the recruiting activities, challenges and strategies.
  • Review, screen, and maintain applications and resumes.
  • Conduct background screenings for all prospective employees.
  • Manage all unemployment compensation claims, worker’s compensation claims and Leave of Absence requests.
  • Have the ability to work with and motivate others, lead by example and gain the respect of peers and leadership.
  • Assist with additional projects as assigned.
  • Handle confidential information which would have an impact on the organization.
  • Assist CEO with organizational compliance as needed.
  • Create and revise job descriptions.
  • Conduct annual salary surveys.
  • Conduct benefits open enrollment sessions.
  • Conduct new employee orientations and employee relations counseling.
  • Oversee exit interviews.
  • Maintain employee records and reports.
  • Participate in administrative staff meetings.
  • Participate in Manager-on-Duty weekend rotation.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Will work indoors in a well-lighted and ventilated office area. Must be able to perform under stress. Sits, stands, and walks short distances during the workday.
