Museum Shop Sales Associate, Part Time, Temporary (Non-exempt)

POSITION PURPOSE:

Promotes and represents the Denver Art Museum, the Museum Shop by providing high quality customer service to all visitors, while emulating the Denver Art Museums core values. This position assists with the daily operations of the Museum Shop by interacting with and helping visitors, making and processing sales, and restocking merchandise.

This position reports to the Assistant Manager of Shop Employee Experience.

This position will have an anticipated start date of 04/17/2024 and an anticipated end date of 08/11/2024.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide high quality customer service including greeting and directing the customer.
  • Completes all POS transactions in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Reconciles POS register at the end of the shift (counting monies and entering data).
  • Maintains all Shop departments and areas in a neat and organized manner, and adheres to all cleaning protocols set in place for the museum.
  • Re-stocks products as needed and communicates product needs to the management team or to the shop lead.
  • Price and stock newly arrived merchandise.
  • Acts as a resource for questions relating to the general museum, exhibitions, the museum complex, and surrounding area and attractions.
  • Keeps up-to-date on product knowledge, including current and new items to be able to answer customer questions.
  • Stays informed of shop procedures and guidelines for sales, discounts, and actively promotes membership sales and membership renewals.
  • Attends museum staff meetings (Huddle and All-staff) as well as attend on-going employee enrichments/training programs and customer service trainings.
  • Consistent usage of the Racial Equity Lens in day-to-day operations.

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalency required.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

  • Required to work evening hours and weekends or holidays where necessary; must be flexible to change hours for exhibitions and events as needed.
  • Environment: temperature controlled.
  • Activities: Being in the shop for long periods of time and helping set up displays and fixtures at various heights.

Position type: This position is not covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement with . All nonsupervisory roles are either represented or non-represented. PAY: The hiring hourly range for the position is $19.00-$23.10 based on experience. A $0.50 language differential is available for hours worked for candidates who have Spanish speaking proficiency.
