THE POSITION
The Engineering, Traffic and Survey (ETS) Department of Land Use & Transportation is recruiting for the position of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technician II.

The Position
The GIS Technician II is responsible for many tasks within the division related to the cartographic production and data maintenance of geospatial datasets pertaining to the maintenance of roads and other transportation assets. The work assigned requires significant attention to detail and commitment to accuracy as a portion of the work will be in the support of the County's Enterprise Asset Management System.

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should be familiar with the fundamentals of cartographic production and techniques of data maintenance and be able to quality control their work. They should also have experience with reading construction design plans and survey plats, geo-referencing, querying, and editing in ArcGIS Pro software. They will possess strong communication skills both verbally and written and have the ability to problem solve, look for opportunities for improvement,?and work independently and as part of a team.?The ideal candidate should be comfortable working with a diverse group of stakeholders including engineers, developers, utilities, contractors, other government agencies, and citizens. Possession of experience in local government supporting road or transportation asset datasets and an Associates degree in?engineering technology, drafting technology, geographic information systems, computer technology, or a related field is preferred

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Associate's Degree AND two (2) years of experience in the use and operation of GIS systems and applications; OR
  • Four (4) years of experience in the use and operation of GIS systems and applications.
