Your role:

You will play a key role in the design and development of new and novel water treatment systems to meet the unique needs of our patients. Leveraging your strong technical background in chemistry, chemical engineering, and/or environmental engineering and with a proven track record in designing and implementing water purification systems using the latest technologies, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions that exceed expectations and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead/Contribute design and development of water purification system for purifying water for dialysis (WFD).
  • Contribute to research and development efforts to design, prototype, and demonstrate feasibility of new water purification technologies for medical applications.
  • Conduct detailed technical analyses and feasibility studies to evaluate different water treatment technologies and system configurations.
  • Bring rigorous critical thinking to ensure that key “killer” questions are addressed early in exploratory and design phases through best-in-class application of modeling, analysis, and empirical methods.
  • Perform process simulations and modeling to optimize system performance, energy efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate materials, components, and equipment for water treatment systems based on performance requirements and budget constraints.
  • Work closely with vendors and suppliers to source components and equipment, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including equipment specifications, operating manuals, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements related to water treatment to identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Be the Subject matter expert (SME) of Water chemistry to drive drive discussions with FDA and contribute to the regulatory submission documentation
  • Work with cross functions such as Sterility Assurance, toxicology, clinical teams ensure respective analysis/design/test areas are integrated to accomplish intended outcome.
  • Pro-active risk management across the fluid management path
  • Drives the roadmap for water technology.

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in chemistry, chemical engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in designing water treatment systems for industrial or municipal applications.
  • Strong knowledge of water chemistry, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and mass transfer principles.
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills.  Proven ability to make sound decisions, think critically and break down complex problems through application of first engineering principles.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and present technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Strong system engineering experience/expertise
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards for water treatment systems, such as FDA, EPA, and ANSI/AAMI, is desirable.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $144,000 - $1,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses and long-term incentive.
