ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: in charge of the designated nursing functions during his/her shift. Evaluates, plans, and implements adequate resident care and prevention of illnesses. Provides direct care, to the residents, and delegates and supervises the care provided by AMIs/C N As.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Assigns specific duties to the AMIs on his/her shift and provides adequate supervision of those AMIs to ensure completion of these assignments
  2. Participates in developing, implementing, and revising of the residents service plan
  3. Identifies, reports, and documents incidents/accidents & participates in investigation of
  4. Incidents.
  5. Prepares, administers, & evaluates response to medication and treatments as ordered by
  6. physician & documents
  7. Assists residents in ordering or reordering their medications
  8. Documents nursing activities accurately and timely & keeps medical records current
  9. Identifies and reports changes in residents status to physicians, responsible parties
  10. Orients new employees as assigned
  11. Coordinates and participates in admission, transfer, and discharge of residents
  12. Communicates resident problems, needs, complaints, or other concerns with Nursing Director in a timely manner
  13. Responds to emergency situations and obtains assistance as necessary. Performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  14. Assures residents rights are protected; protects residents from abuse or neglect
  15. Practices and assures AMIs adhere to infection control policies and procedures
Supervisor Responsibilities
  1. Supervises AMIs
  2. Functions as charge nurse during shift
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Licensed to practice in Louisiana
  • Good communication & leadership skills
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and manage stress
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to pull, push up to 90 pounds, lift up to 50 pound
