OSP Construction Maintenance Field Technician

Job Summary:

Outside Plant Construction and Maintenance Field Technicians are responsible for protecting, maintaining, and growing our fiber-optic network. Field Technicians will also coordinate with contractors and other utility companies to clarify processes and procedures for each construction project.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Replace damaged vaults.
• Raise and lower vaults.
• Install conduit to commercial businesses.
• Pull fiber through the conduit.
• Clear obstructed conduit and repair damaged conduit.
• Restore job sites to the original landscape after construction.
• Communicate in a thorough and professional manner with contractors, customers, and homeowners.
• Identify and comprehend the i3 Broadband mapping system.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to work well with others as part of a team.
• Must be computer proficient.
• Positive, can-do attitude.
• Willingness and desire to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and quality results.
• Equipment operating experience preferred.
• Possess good time management skills.
• Must enjoy working outside.
• Willing to train, accept feedback, and learn the job according to i3 Broadband standards.
• Must be available to work occasional overtime and some weekends (as needed).
• Must have a valid driver's license.

Education/Experience:

• No prior experience is necessary, however, any demonstrated interest or aptitude for hands-on work, physical work, or working with cable or electrical components is preferred.
• Outside Plant or Landscaping experience is also highly preferred.
• Must have a clean driving record and the ability to pass a criminal background check.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to work outdoors, and in all weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
• Must be able to walk, bend, and lift up to 75 pounds.
