As a Therapist - Counselor, your days are dynamic and fulfilling. You work with a diverse outpatient population, providing crucial clinical services to adults, adolescents, and children facing substance abuse and mental health challenges. From conducting assessments to crafting personalized treatment plans, your role is vital. Through individual, group, and play therapy sessions, you offer compassionate support and guidance. Documentation is key, ensuring compliance with standards while meeting productivity goals set by VBHCS.

Beyond therapy, you engage in discharge planning, involve families in the process, and collaborate with external partners like courts and schools. Your role as a liaison ensures seamless coordination of care, empowering clients on their journey to recovery!

THE TYPE OF CANDIDATE WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We're looking for someone who meets these requirements:

  • A master's degree in the behavioral sciences (social work, counseling, or psychology)

Preferred:

  • Experience working in the community setting with adults who have alcohol and drug treatment issues or co-morbid mental health problems
  • Counseling experience with adults and an understanding of psychotropic medications or related experience
