Summary

Responsible for developing the overall image for the Calvary Chapel Christian Academy (CCCA) as well as managing, evaluating and supervising effective procedures for the operation and functioning of the school consistent with the philosophy, mission, values and goals of CCCA to include: selecting, managing and evaluating curriculum and instructional programs; managing and evaluating staff; establishing disciplinary systems to ensure a safe and orderly climate; overseeing physical facilities and emergency procedures; overseeing financial operations; promoting the academy to prospective families and ensuring compliance with all laws, policies and civil regulations.

Duties

Curriculumand Spiritual Development
Research and develop an appropriate curriculum and ensure that it complies with CCNN’s vision to operate a day school that is Christ centered.
1.Establish and promote high standards and expectations for all students and staff for academic performance, spiritual growth and responsible behavior.
2.Establish an environment that fosters spiritual grounding alongside academic development for children thus enhancing the moral, ethical and character development of students through faith-based education.
3.Ensure that the general schedule allows for Praise and Worship, prayer and Bible Instruction.
4.Establish the scope and sequence for instructional programs, ensuring sequential learning experiences for students consistent with the school’s philosophy, mission-statement and instructional goals.(Scope sequence may be included in the selected published curriculum – i.e. – ABEKA BJU Press).
5.Establish procedures for evaluation and selection of instructional materials and equipment for the school, evaluating lesson plans and observing classes on a regular basis to encourage the use of a variety of instructional strategies and materials consistent with research on learning and child growth and development.
6.Measure education quality by observing teachers in the classroom and by monitoring student performance on standardized tests and other assessment tools.
7.Organize and supervise procedures for identifying and addressing special needs of students including academic, health-related concerns, and physical, emotional and spiritual needs.
8.Supervise effective discipline and attendance systems with high standards, consistent with the philosophy, values, and mission of the school in a fair and consistent manner.Determine the necessity of suspensions and expulsions from CCCA.

Staffing Management
Responsible for all aspects of staff management and professional development.
1.Establish performance goals for academy personnel, evaluate their performances and coach them throughout the year to support both students and teachers in achieving their greatest potential academically, instructionally and spiritually.
2.Review staff schedules.
3.Develop job descriptions, recruits and interviews candidates, and hires staff as needed.
4.Manage the disciplinary process to include terminations.
5.Ensure records of staff qualifications, certifications and training are maintained.
6.Communicate with CCNN Senior Pastor, Children's Pastor and Director of Business Operations on the status of staff meeting the professional, personal and spiritual expectations of CCCA.
7.Assist in maintaining staff personnel records.
8.Inform the staff of their role in School-Improvement Plans.
9.Establish schedules and procedures for the supervision of students in non-classroom areas (including Youth Programs).
10.Establish procedures for safe storage and integrity of all public and confidential school records.
11.Ensure that staff maintain student records that are complete and current.

Facilities Management
Work closely with the Facilities Director to ensure that the physical facilities comply with local, state and federal laws, and ensures a safe and orderly environment that is conducive to learning and student responsibility.
  • Evaluate the necessity of purchases of equipment, and supplies for the academy
2.Establish procedures that create and maintain attractive, organized, functional, healthy, clean, and safe facilities, with proper attention to the visual, acoustics and temperature.
3.Develop and maintain Emergency Preparedness Procedures and provide regular drills for emergencies.

Parental Communication and Involvement
The Director often serves as the 'face' of the academy and is the liaison between the teachers, parents and community to ensure positive communication and relations.
  • Ensure prospective families attend a New Student Orientation to determine whether the school is a good fit for the family and the family a good-fit for the academy.
  • Use excellent written and oral English skills to establish a professional rapport with students, parents and staff.
  • Cultivate positive and collaborative relationships with parents and community leaders.
  • Display the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with students, parents and school personnel to demonstrate the importance and relevance of learning, accepting responsibility, and demonstrating pride in the education profession (encouraging the staff to do the same).
5.Maintain accessibility with students, teachers, parents and the CCCA Advisory Board.
6.Communicate regularly with parents to create a cooperative relationship to support the student in the school.
7.Mediate conflicts or problems among academy teachers, students and parents.

Administration
Oversee the proper operations of the Academy in the areas of Finance, Business Operations and Health and Welfare.
1.Ensure the proper financial management of the academy.
2.Create and execute business plans, establish annual budgets and oversee expenditures.
3.Develop and implement a marketing and advertising plan for the benefit of the day school.Because CCNN believes that “where God guides, God provides”, fundraising is optional and should not compromise nor conflict with the beliefs or financial efforts of CCNN.
4.Collaborate with HR/Finance to complete in a timely fashion, all records and reports as requested by CCNN.
5.Ensure that accurate attendance records are being maintained by staff as appropriate.
6.Provide monthly reports and communicate with the CCCA Advisory Board about the needs, successes and general operation of the school.
7.Notify HR/CCNN Liaison and appropriate agencies when there is evidence of substance abuse, child abuse, child neglect, severe medical or social conditions, potential suicide or students appearing to be under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances.
8.Assume responsibility for the health, safety, and welfare of students, employees and visitors.
9.Supervise the exclusion from school of any pupil who shows departure from normal health, who has been exposed to a communicable disease, or whose presence may be detrimental to the health and cleanliness of other pupils. Assure that excluded pupil’s parents or guardians are apprised of the reasons for exclusion.
10.Working knowledge of Academy Software (Headmaster) for managing attendance, billing, and student and staff records.
11.Develop policy and procedure manuals for Financial Operation and Personnel Management.

Requirements

·Master's degree in education administration or a related field.
·Teaching certification and/or previous teaching experience.

·Appropriate judgment in the areas of discretion, sensitivity and confidentiality.
·Ability to make decisions in keeping with the vision, policies, and practices of Calvary Chapel Newport News.
