Jtec is seeking a Class A CDL Driver with other manufacturing skills (assembly, machining, powder coat, welding, other). This person would primarily work on the shop floor and drive the CDL truck as needed.

Hours: 6AM-2:30PM M-F, home evenings and weekends with the family!

$1500 Sign-On Bonus - See HR for payout timing and requirements.

Route: Moves material between our 4 facilities in East Peoria, IL and other local out/back trips

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Move freight, stock, or other materials to and from storage or production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, ships, or containers, by hand or using trucks, tractors, or other equipment.
  • Inspect product load for accuracy and safely move it around the warehouse or facility to ensure timely and complete delivery.
  • Manually or mechanically load or unload materials from pallets, skids, platforms, cars, lifting devices, or other transport vehicles.
  • Attach identifying tags to containers or mark the with identifying information and ensure all internal loads have proper paperwork.
  • Sort materials before moving.
  • Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
  • Inspect loads to ensure that cargo is secure.
  • Secure cargo for transport using ropes, blocks, chain, binders, or covers.
  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions.
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
  • Perform routine maintenance on vehicles or auxiliary equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, recharging batteries, fueling, or replacing LP tank.
  • Other jobs and/or duties as directed by Supervisor or Production Manager.

Qualifications

  • Education/Experience
    • Requires commercial driver's license (CDL Class A) & all other DOT associated requirements
    • 6+ months CDL Class A professional driving experience required, 2+ years (preferred)
    • High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate), (preferred)
    • 1-2 years fork lift experience, required
  • Skills
    • Operation Monitoring - Watching indicators to make sure a machine is working properly
    • Operation and Control - Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
    • Time Management - managing one's own time appropriately
    • Reading Comprehension - understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents

    • Control Precision - the ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine to exact positions

Physical requirements

  • Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as lifting, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
  • Must be able to lift and move 50 lb parts or fixtures.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, and reach overhead to assemble and/or move products.
  • Must be able to work in safety sensitive role, fit for duty and free of any adverse effects of drugs or alcohol, including prescribed or over the counter drugs or other substances which may alter job performance during working times (e.g., drowsiness, impaired reflexes or reaction time, lack of concentration, etc.).
  • Must be able to pass and maintain all DOT medical/physical requirements.
  • Must be able to stand and work on your feet for an entire shift.
