Purpose:

As a member of the Executive Management team, the Executive Director of IT will report to the CEO and assume a key role in providing technology, security, and platform systems leadership to enable and support modern IT technologies and software to streamline business operations. This role will oversee the Information Technology (IT) department and various outsourced partners to lead the strategy, planning, and implementation of all systems and platforms. The Executive Director will maintain and develop key relationships with internal and external business partners and will require the ability to balance strategic leadership with the delivery of daily and ongoing IT services.


Job Location: This role is expected to be physically on-site at our Gardiner Maine headquarters.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead a major systems conversion from one platform to another, ensuring successful implementation without downtime, business interruption, or negative customer impact. Must have the ability to work successfully with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Review current IT systems and make recommendations that can improve the IT Department performance and increase company profits.
  • Ensure that the IT Department strategies and processes provide appropriate support to company-wide goals.
  • Maintain and enhance IT policies, protocols, and standards throughout the company.
  • Communicate with other Executives regarding costs, value, and risk-potential of new IT Projects.
  • Collaborate with IT staff to develop and implement department goals.
  • Allocate IT resources to execute the project list to committed time and budgetary constraints. This includes aligning internal capabilities behind specific needs and sourcing external resources where appropriate.
  • Evaluate IT team skill sets, identifying gaps and weaknesses, and plan future staffing needs.
  • Create a client relationship with users, continually seeking feedback and acting upon it.
  • Act as an IT thought leader for the organization.
  • Accomplish results by clearly communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Establish goals for IT that align with company goals.
  • Ensure that the company’s proprietary systems and data are adequately protected.
  • Maintain and enhance disaster recovery to ensure no business interruption.

Position Requirements:

  • Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field.
  • Management experience required.
  • Strong analytical skills preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to collaborate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated effective leadership skills.
  • Strong background in analysis, development, and implementation of applications.
  • Skilled at planning, goal setting, and project management.
  • Data Warehouse and/or Software Development experience preferred.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment handling multiple projects.
  • Must be adept at managing multiple vendors and projects simultaneously.
