JOB SUMMARY: The Food Runner is responsible for communicating orders, questions, and service needs with servers, and bartenders. Check-in with and anticipate the guest's service needs. Complete daily opening, closing, and/or running side work. Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, proper table set up, and develop positive guest relations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to follow company standard steps of service.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of table/seat/section numbers, proper table set-ups, hours of operation, dress code, and other standard operational information.
  • Ability to check quality of food produced by the culinary team once placed in service window.
  • Must have the ability to provide legible communication and compute basic math calculations.
  • Must have the ability to individually lift plates.
  • Organize and execute the delivery of completed dishes after the culinary team has placed in service window.
  • Must have the ability to garnish and check prepared food as it is placed in the window before going out to the floor for guests.
  • Maintain and comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Work with the team to maintain a hazard-free work environment.
  • Use all chemicals in accordance with OSHA regulations and hotel requirements.
  • Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries and unsafe work conditions to manager, complete safety training and certifications, maintain company confidentiality.
  • Must have the ability to communicate any needs, issues, or necessary help to co-workers.
  • Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards.
  • Any other reasonable task as requested by supervisors.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Must have excellent attention to detail.
  • Previous hospitality, restaurant and/or hotel experience is preferred.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Honolulu Liquor Commission Card
  • ServSafe Certification
  • Strong communication skills with customers and staff, both written and verbal
  • Strong organizational aptitude
  • Must enjoy working on a team and embrace change
  • Ability to multitask

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willing to work long hours as required
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds occasionally
  • This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, and kneeling
