Job Summary


Candidate will be responsible for developing the overall systems design for the subsystems required to operate the aircraft in flight and on the ground. Candidate will define and analyze the functions implemented by the various subsystems, document their interactions with other subsystems, determine their criticality to flight safety and dispatch reliability, will develop a physical system architecture to implement these functions, will incorporate redundancies and/or failure accommodations to ensure aircraft performance and certification requirements are achieved, develop a test plan to verify the results.

Candidate will be responsible for ensuring Engineers are developing their products according to the System Design. Candidate should also be capable of supporting various Aircraft simulation and test design platforms.

 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Detailed list of responsibilities)


  • Apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify a lifecycle-balanced system-of-systems.
  • Perform analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, regulatory certification, product assurance and other specialties factored into a preferred certification to ensure mission success.
  • Coordinate design development and system integration (including subcontractors)
  • Build physics-based performance models of the system, exercising the models over the entire operational environment.
  • Prepare and present reports on system test results, assisting developers with system design.
  • Perform cost and weight studies for alternative design concepts.
  • Support the preparation and execution of detailed projects plans, system descriptions, interface control documents, and component specifications.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, software, aerospace, or systems engineering.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in Engineering in the aerospace industry
  • Experience with requirements management; modeling and simulation methods; and control system design and verification.
  • Simulation / Lab Experience

Desired Attributes:

  • Experience with flight-critical, digital, fly-by-wire flight control systems.
  • Familiar with highly integrated digital subsystem control interfaces.
  • Familiarity with Hardware-in-The-Loop lab integration and testing.
  • Familiarity with MATLAB, Simulink, and/or dSpace hardware for system performance and real-time modeling.
  • Experience with requirements management in DOORS, Cameo, or other similar systems engineering software tools.
  • Experience working with safety-critical systems (including hardware and software)
  • Experience with failure management design and architecture development.
