Gloster Forest Products, LLC (GFP) is building a state-of-the-art lumber mill in Gloster, Mississippi.

The new mill will require over 1 million tons of timber annually to produce about 250 million board feet. The facility will be located on 65 acres (about the area of a large shopping mall) and represents a corporate investment of over $200 million, creating 131 jobs and supporting an additional 200 indirect jobs when operating at full capacity.

POSITION: Scale Operator

We are seeking a qualified, motivated individual to join our company as a Scale Operator. As part of our team, you use a computerized scale to weigh incoming and outgoing trucks, logging information relevant to each truck, including vehicle type, tags, and driver. You accurately record this data for billing purposes and perform regular audits to ensure appropriate billing. This position requires moderate computer proficiency, and our ideal candidate has prior experience with trucking, data entry, and industrial workplace safety.

Responsibilities:

• Use a computer to record the weights of incoming and outgoing vehicles

• Log information into a centralized database

• Calculate costs for drivers based on vehicle weight

• Maintain a safe, organized working environment

• Drive tractor-trailer to destination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and skill in maneuvering.

• Controls traffic by directing drivers.

• Completes reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities; interviewing witnesses; obtaining signatures.

• Maintains environment by monitoring and setting building and equipment controls.

• Maintains organization’s stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements.

• Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques.

• Work in a safe manner using proper PPE.

Required Skills:

• Moderate Computer proficiency.

• Experience in rucking or in an industrial yard environment

• Basic Math Skills

• Experience with radio communication

• Two years of verifiable experience operating a semi-truck/trailer.

• Be safety-conscious and adhere to all the safety procedures and practices. 

• Successful completion of a post-offer drug screen.
