Position Summary:

The Student Accounts Specialist serves students, staff, parents, and community members through the student account and cashiering office, working on a broad array of student service issues, including student accounts, financial aid, veterans’ benefits, orientation, admissions, and registration. Participates with other service areas to facilitate consistent delivery of service and information

Duties & Responsibilities:

    Provides information on a variety of topics related to student services in various communication methods. Conducts assessment of student needs and proactively engages students in conversation and financial planning related to their college experience.Promotes payment plans and negotiates repayment agreements.Serve as student cashier and assist students navigate through their TouchNet student account portal.Performs periodic audit of accounts, as needed. Communicates with students, families, and university staff to resolve account issues and ensure accurate student account information.Monitors accounts receivable balances monthly. Contact customers who owe balances including students who have officially withdrawn from the university.Assist the student account department mail out billing statements, AR tax setoff letters, unclaimed property, tax documents, etc.Effectively communicates relevant policies and procedures to stakeholders. Maintains files and records in university database and updates customer account directory information as needed.Serve as representative for Heart Start, Reddie Hub, and other student related activitiesPerforms other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Accounts.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Knowledge of customer service techniques.

Knowledge of student financial aid programs.

Knowledge of auditing principles and procedures.

Ability to conduct research, perform quantitative quality assurance reviews and prepare reports.

General Days/Hours:

Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Additional hours as requested and/or needed .
Regular and reliable attendance.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting, business administration or related field; plus two years of experience in student financial accounts or a related area.

Experience with Banner and TouchNet

Additional requirements determined by the institution for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Arkansas Division of Higher Education.
