THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The position requires expertise in operating specialized equipment and/or vehicles with a gross vehicle weight exceeding 32,001 pounds, as well as truck and trailer combinations where the trailer's weight is 10,000lbs or more. As the equipment operator B, you will be expected to possess the necessary skills and experience to maintain the district's infrastructure, supporting the Forest Maintenance Supervisor and Managers in achieving the goals, expectations, and mission of the DCNR Bureau of Forestry.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Travel as required
  • Overtime may be required in emergency situations such as wildfire suppression
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as an Equipment Operator A; or
  • Two years of experience in the operation of heavy construction and specialized maintenance equipment used at this level with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more: or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience or training.

Special Requirement:
  • This position requires possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license.

Conditions of Employment:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License without the following Restrictions: L/Z-Air Brakes, E-Manual Transmission, and O-Truck Tractor/Semi-trailer Combination.
