THE POSITION

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation's Engineering District 12 is currently hiring for the position of Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor. Your role involves overseeing, assisting with administrative tasks, and conducting on-site assessments in the permit unit to ensure the efficient and precise implementation of the Bonded Roads Program. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As the coordinator for bonded roads, your responsibilities include overseeing the Bonded Roads Program to align with departmental objectives, managing all bonding initiatives for roadways, ensuring compliance with state laws and regulations, and conducting meetings with applicants to determine bond types needed.

You will supervise and consult Transportation Construction Inspectors, oversee preliminary inspections of roadways, conduct monthly re-inspections, assess maintenance repairs and materials needed, and inspect completed repairs. Additionally, you will perform or review final inspections on all bonded roads, make independent managerial decisions, and release permits accordingly.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Uniontown.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Transportation Construction Inspector; or
  • Two years of construction inspection experience and an associate's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Condition of Employment:
  • This position requires possession of a valid non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
